FiTH V2 (Fire in The Hole)

Assembly Instructions

Included with the FiTH V2 are the following:

For assembly: 1/4" long pin, 1/2" long pin

Opps Kit: Steel detent, ¼” spring

Tuning kit (if purchased): 3/8” spring, Ceramic Detent, 1/2" x 1/4" magnets (4)

All items should move smoothly when being installed and should not be forced.   The spring is small and can be easily damaged.

See the following picture for the order in which items should be inserted: Figure 1

First, line up the hole in the body of the fidget with the hole thru the plunger and insert the plunger into the body. (Figure 2 & 3)

Insert spring first, then the detent into the hole.    These will end up going all the way thru the plunger and stay inside the fidget body. (Figure 4 & 5)

Insert 1/2" pin first (this should not encounter any spring force), then the 1/4" pin.   This should be slightly proud of the surface because the spring will need to be compressed to assemble correctly. (Figure 6 &7)

Press in the pin so that it is flush with the surface of the fidget body, then rotate or press on the plunger gently to move away from the loading location.   DO NOT force this step. (Figure 8 & 9)

Once the detent/plunger is in the use range, the two pins should either drop free or can be removed with the end cap magnet.   (* keep these pins *) (Figure 10)

Notice the longer line opposite the loading hole.   This is where the detent is located and indicates which track it is currently running in. (Figure 11)

 

Disassembly:

Rotate the plunger to a position which does NOT line up the boy hole with the hole in the plunger.

Place finger over the plunger end of the body (this will keep the detent and spring from flying away and getting lost)

Push the plunger out of the body

If the plunger is pushed out with the two holes lined up, the detent and spring will decompress and go into the hole in the plunger. Pushing the plunger past the assembly point will damage the spring.   Use the two pins to return the detent and spring to the loaded position and push out the plunger.

 

Tuning:

The two magnets, (in plunger and end cap) and the detent force can be tuned to the end users preferences.

The longer spring will cause the detent to be stronger and create more friction (and resistance) with the piston.

The magnets, 1/2" tall, two 1/4" tall, and a single 1/4" tall, all have differing amounts of repelling force. Two single 1/4" (with a spacer) will cause the piston to be the easiest to compress but will not overcome the friction of the detent in most positions.   Two 1/2" magnets will create the strongest amount of resistance in the piston.   The FITH V2 ships with two 1/2" magnets and the smaller detent spring installed. Tune to your own personal preference.
